MCC Bookstores FAQs!

As part of Follett Higher Education, we have bookstores on our Bedford and Lowell Campuses where you will find books, school supplies, and tech gear. Each campus bookstore has an online store that allows you to order course materials.

In addition, you can purchase snacks and MCC branded apparel.

The MCC Bookstores are part of Follett Higher Education Bookstore.

The Bedford and Lowell bookstores have their own online store.

These online stores can be linked to from the MCC Homepage by several paths or by a simple search:
 • MyMCC / BlackBoard / Launch Follett Discover
 • MyMCC / Course Catalog / Course & Section / Textbooks

You can create a list of your required course materials by entering your Student ID#. To make sure you receive all your course materials, check both online stores. Some items are listed only in Bedford and others only in Lowell.

Your instructor's syllabus is the best source of information about your course materials.

Digital course materials are available almost immediately. Print books, supplies and other items are usually available the next business day.

When we are out of an item, other stores in our network may fill orders for us. That can delay orders for a week to 10 days. Ordering before the start of classes is the best way to prevent delays.

We accept credit cards from companies such as:
  • American Express
  • Discover
  • Mastercard
  • Visa
Other acceptable payment forms include:
  • Cash
  • Financial aid
  • Follett gift cards
  • MCC and VA purchase orders
  • MRC

We do not accept checks.

Financial Aid purchases are subject to restrictions. Please do not try to purchase anything other than course materials and course-related technology and supplies with Financial Aid.

Yes, but a rental account must be created and secured with a credit card.

Yes!

  • The amount of money you can use toward supplies or tech gear depends on how much your account covers
  • Financial Aid covers up to $150 in course-related supplies
  • VA accounts are restricted to $75 in supplies each semester
  • MRC accounts only cover required course materials unless the amount is specified

Registering provides several key benefits, including a printable purchase history, access to tracking information, and access to a rental return label.

Use your MCC email account for all activity, including:
  • Registering for Follett's website
  • Obtaining textbook rentals
  • Creating accounts with third-party course materials
Using your MCC email helps keep the emails we send out of your spam filters and all of your course material accounts in sync. This process allows us to deliver many digital materials directly through Blackboard.

Instructions for shipping:
  • Go to MCC's Lowell or Bedford Campus Bookstore website
  • Log in and go to "My Account"
    • If you do not have an account, create one using the same email you gave when you rented your books
  • Follow the links to create a shipping label
    • Keep the tracking number for proof of delivery
  • Pack and label your books and take them to any shipping location

Inclusive Access sections require digital course materials with the cost included in your course fees. These charges appear on your MCC bill as DMRFs or RUMFs.

This program:

  • Reduces overall costs
  • Eliminates shopping and waiting for materials to arrive
  • Ensures that students can begin working with their course materials from the first day of class

Yes, but be careful. The materials we provide through Follett Access are meant to be the lowest cost versions available.

We provide two kinds of digital content:

  • Courseware
  • E-books

E-books are digital versions of textbooks. Courseware is educational software that can be customized by your instructor and that usually has exercises, quizzes and tests that you must access to complete the course requirements.

If you find a lower-cost print book to purchase or rent, you might want to opt-out of receiving a digital e-book if you prefer print, or if you find a lower-cost print book to purchase or rent.

You can opt-out of receiving digital courseware if:

  • Access is available from a previous purchase
  • Courseware is not required for you to complete your course

The decision to opt-out is by course, not by item. If the course includes an e-book and courseware, you must opt-out of both.

In the case you opt-out of Follett Access in a course in which the courseware is required, your courseware registration may be canceled and any work you have done may be lost.

If you opt-out and realize it was an error in doing so, you may opt-in again. Please contact the bookstore prior to the last day of the add/drop period. Once add/drop has passed, we can assist you.

Before the end of MCC's add/drop period, send an email with subject "Opt-Out," and CC your instructor.

In the body of the email list the following:

Name

MCC ID#

Phone #

Department / Course / Section (e.g. ENG 101 01)

Reason for opting out:

____Materials are not required

____Prefer print

____Carryover access because of previous course registration: Dept / Course / Section / Term

____Already have access code (provide code if available)

The MCC Bookstore notifies MCC Student Accounts and they will adjust your bill.
