Middlesex Community College will welcome back award-winning cellist and alum Nathaniel Abreu as part of the Spring 2026 “A World of Music” concert series. The performance will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 10 in MCC’s Concert Hall in Bedford.
“I am thrilled to be returning to MCC to play a recital together with Carmen Rodríguez-Peralta and Orlando Cela, who have been such supportive mentors and colleagues in my musical life,” Abreu said. “Middlesex allowed me to develop into a professional musician, and I am so grateful to this community."
A 2020 MCC graduate, Abreu is the winner of many prizes and competitions and recently completed his studies at Oberlin Conservatory. His program will feature Prelude and Allemande from Suite No. 6 in D Major by Johann Sebastian Bach for solo cello; Chant du ménestrel by Alexander Glazunov and Sonata No. 3 in A Major by Ludwig van Beethoven for cello and piano; and Trois Aquarelles by Philippe Gaubert for flute, cello, and piano.
For the performance, Abreu will be joined by MCC Chair of Music Rodríguez-Peralta, piano, and faculty member Cela, flute.
“We are very proud of our talented alumnus Nathaniel Abreu and all that he has accomplished in his musical career so far,” Rodríguez-Peralta said. “Orlando and I are so looking forward to collaborating with him in this upcoming concert. The wonderful music on this program will highlight his abilities both as a soloist and a chamber musician.”
