SASS Rise Scholars at MCC
Learn About Our RISE Scholars Dual Enrollment Opportunity!
MCC offers a unique program for high school students ages 18 to 22 with intellectual disabilities
New students begin by using public transportation to spend two full days on campus and auditing a course which does not carry prerequisites. Students enrolled in RISE (RISE Resources, Inclusion, Support, and Empowering) attend MCC for one to four semesters and create individual plans which include academic, personal, career and social goals.
Students enrolled in RISE receive:
- Specialized enrollment, registration and academic advising
- Community-based employment and individualized career support
- Educational coaches and peer mentors
- Participation in selected co-curricular events at UMass Lowell
- Full access to MCC clubs, student activities, and academic resources
Students enrolled in RISE work towards increasing:
- Independence and Confidence
- Social and Communication Skills
- Friendships and Networks
- Campus Life Involvement
- Competitive Employment Skills
- Student Success Skills
- Wellness and Accomplishment
RISE is supported by the MAICEI state-funded grant awarded to MCC, LABBB Collaborative, The Guild School, and Bedford Public Schools for the 2022-2023 academic year. Please contact your high school liaison for more details on enrollment requirements. Applications are typically due April 1st for Fall enrollment and November 1st for Spring enrollment.
